About the Murray CMA
The Murray Catchment Management Authority (CMA) works with the catchment community to set future directions for natural resource management in the Murray Catchment.
The Murray CMA is a statutory authority with a responsible and accountable board reporting directly to the Minister for Environment and Climate Change.
The Murray CMA engages regional communities in the key natural resources issues facing the catchment. Some of the challenges that we face include:
- Preparing a Catchment Action Plan (CAP) and investment strategies that integrate and build on the Catchment Blueprints and regional vegetation management plans,
- Managing incentive programs to implement the CAP,
- Providing landholders, including Indigenous landholders, with access to data to prepare Property Vegetation Plans (PVPS),
- Allocating funds to support the development of PVPs including incentives,
- Providing education and training on natural resource management, especially vegetation management,
- Developing transparent procedures for handling local disputes related to implementing the CAPs, and
- Consents and performance management (on farm natural resource consents in 2005/06)
